Foundations
tutoring and care
The concept of Foundations Tutoring and Care was born after seeing a need for quality educational opportunities for the children of St. John, VI. It seems that kids who learn a little outside of the lines had little-to-no access to a quality education. While at first it appeared to be one or two students who could benefit from an educator who is well versed in children who struggle to fit the mold, it was quickly realized that even children with mild ADD or ADHD had an unmet need and deserved to be afforded the opportunity to achieve academic success.
As time went by, Foundations Tutoring and Care was developed to meet the needs of children who range from neurotypical to having mild to severe disabilities. After all, don’t we all deserve the opportunity to be successful?

With a love of educating children, Susie has dedicated her life to helping each child in her world to achieve their personal goals. While raising her three children, she completed a BS in Human Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University, and went on to complete a Masters program through Project PASS (Preparing Autism Specialists for Schools) as well as a Masters in Secondary Education at the University of Oregon. After she taught for a few years, she found herself wanting to serve children at all stages of their educational journey and completed an Elementary Education Masters program through Marylhurst College.
This depth and breadth of learning serves as a solid foundation to assess individual student barriers to learning success efficiently and accurately, and to customize a plan to overcome these barriers.
